Childcare and preschool in Largs, NSW

Kindy Patch Largs offers long day care and a preschool program for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, conveniently located for families in Largs, Bolwarra, Bolwarra Heights, Woodville, Phoenix Park, Hinton and Maitland.

Nature-filled outdoor environments

Children have room to explore a large, vibrant outdoor space with a 160-year-old heritage tree, bike track, fort, boat, three sandpits and a fully turfed soft fall yard. The space is filled with plants and vegetation, giving children plenty of opportunities for active play and nature-based learning.

Learning in a heritage-listed chapel

Our indoor spaces are set within a heritage-listed chapel, giving the centre a beautiful and historic feel that families and visitors often notice. Children learn in well-loved, unconventional spaces that feel warm, character-filled and different from a typical classroom.

Natural, recycled and purpose-fit resources

Children use natural, recycled and purpose-fit resources to explore colour, STEM, literacy, construction, teamwork, patience and agency. These materials encourage children to test ideas, work together and build skills through play.

Experienced educator team

Our dedicated educators and teachers work closely with families to support each child’s learning and development. Their experience helps create a steady, caring environment where children feel understood and encouraged.

Individual Learning Plans

Individual Learning Plans are developed in partnership with families, reflecting each child’s strengths, interests and goals. Educators use these plans to guide play, routines and learning in ways that suit each child’s needs and next steps.

Government-approved Preschool program

Our Government-approved Preschool program is delivered by Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Children build confidence for school through play-based learning, routines, friendships and growing independence.

Weekly Little Kickers sessions

Children take part in weekly Little Kickers sessions every Monday as part of the centre program. These sessions add movement, teamwork and active fun to the week.

Fresh meals and family app updates

Fresh meals and snacks are provided each day, with menus planned for variety and balance. Families can follow their child’s day through our family app, with photos and updates about routines, learning moments and centre experiences.

  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)
“As educators, we are children’s biggest supporters, creating a positive and enjoyable early learning experience that becomes a fond memory for them as they grow.”

I have been working in early childhood education since 2007 and hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. I have always had a passion for teaching, and I was drawn to the 0–5 age group because of how much children develop during these early years. Seeing that growth and understanding how play supports learning have inspired me to pursue this career and continue to motivate me every day.

Throughout my career, I have learned so much from children, especially the way they enjoy life and stay present in the moment. I love watching them achieve new skills and exploring different strategies with them, seeing their minds at work. This has strengthened my passion for play-based learning and small world play, where children can explore, imagine, and learn in meaningful ways. I believe in always being on the child’s side. As educators, we are their biggest supporters, creating a positive and enjoyable early learning experience that becomes a fond memory for them as they grow.

I believe early childhood education offers opportunities that complement what children learn at home. Through experiences such as messy play, arts and crafts, and social interactions, children build important life skills and learn to navigate relationships, routines, and change. Our Kindy Patch Largs team is a wonderful mix of long-standing educators and new team members, bringing both experience and fresh ideas. Together, we create a supportive and engaging environment for children and families.

We focus on building positive relationships with families from the very beginning. From the first tour, through stay and play visits, enrolment, and all the way to graduation, we are here to support both children and their families every step of the way.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Largs, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

We prioritise sustainability by recycling regularly, with bins in each room and a dedicated cardboard and paper waste bin. We also maintain a worm farm and compost, and we use biodegradable plastic bags and baby wipes. All our printing and craft paper is 100% recycled.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Community engagement

We strive to engage with our local community and explore both the micro and macro worlds. Across the road is a local park where we often venture for picnics. We also have two six-seater prams for taking nursery-aged children on walks.

Music and movement

Our exclusive Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Age-appropriate early learning

We provide learning experiences tailored to each stage of your child’s development. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and designed to support children’s wellbeing, confidence and growing independence.

The transition into care felt like such a big step, but the team made it feel so smooth and reassuring for both my daughter and myself. Every educator is warm, kind, and genuinely invested in the children. Jayne is absolutely incredible — so thoughtful, caring, and clearly passionate about everything she does. Knowing my daughter is happy, safe, and cared for by such beautiful people gives me complete peace of mind. We feel very lucky to be part of this community and couldn’t recommend it more highly.

I looked around and compared to other local centres in the area. Never judge a book by it's cover… It might not be the newest looking centre but the feeling I felt once inside; warm, homely and nurturing… Much more than other centres I walked through. No matter what, those first few weeks were really hard for my daughter and I… The team there were super accomodating and reassuring. Nikki does a fantastic job managing the centre, always happy to answer any questions and super lovely. My daughter is in the nursery. Leah, Michelle and Hayley have been so caring and friendly… My daughter now reaches out for them when she's dropped off… I think that says enough within itself. Thankyou !! 🙂

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Kindy Patch uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Kindy Patch is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
