Kindy Patch Mordialloc offers long day care and a Government-approved Kindergarten program for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, conveniently located for families in Mordialloc, Parkdale, Moorabbin, Aspendale, Mentone and Braeside in Melbourne.

Small, family-oriented centre

Our small centre with 40 places has a warm, family-oriented atmosphere where children can feel known, included and comfortable. The close-knit environment helps educators build strong relationships with each child and family.

Outdoor play and exploration

Children can enjoy outdoor play in a space with a climbing frame and cubby house. These features give children opportunities to move, climb, imagine, practise social skills and spend time outdoors as part of their day.

Spacious indoor learning areas

Indoors, children learn in spacious rooms with a range of resources that encourage curiosity and creativity. The learning areas are set up for play-based experiences, group activities, quieter moments and age-appropriate skill building.

Experienced team with low turnover

With no team turnover in many years, children are cared for by familiar educators who know their routines, interests and personalities. This consistency helps children feel secure and supports strong, trusted relationships over time.

Individual Learning Plans

We develop Individual Learning Plans for each child, reflecting their interests, strengths and developmental goals, and work in partnership with families to review and update each plan over time.

Government-approved Kindergarten program

Our Government-approved Kindergarten program is delivered by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher in collaboration with educators. Children build confidence for school through play-based learning, routines, friendships and growing independence.

Incursions and excursions

Children take part in several incursions and excursions throughout the year, adding variety and real-world connections to their learning. These experiences help children explore new ideas, meet different people and connect with their community.

Fresh meals and family app updates

Children are offered fresh meals and snacks throughout the day, with menus planned for variety and balance. Families can follow their child’s day through our family app, with photos and updates about routines, learning moments and centre experiences.

“I am dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for children to play, learn, and thrive holistically.”

I began my career in early learning in 2012 and joined Kindy Patch Mordialloc in 2013. I have always loved being part of a family’s early learning journey and making a difference in children’s lives. I am dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for children to play, learn, and thrive holistically, believing that learning through play is essential for their development.

Throughout my career, I’ve developed skills in curriculum planning, teaching health and safety habits, and supporting language development, all guided by principles of child psychology and human development. At our centre, we offer children a range of experiences with their peers, fostering important early interactions and friendships. I believe that these experiences, combined with play and guided learning, are crucial for their growth.

On a centre tour, I often explain to families that attending an early childhood education centre provides children with a structured program that supports their development and prepares them for a successful transition to school. At Kindy Patch Mordialloc, we have a long-standing, passionate team committed to providing quality care and supporting our families, with no team turnover in the past 7 years. We maintain an open-door policy, value feedback, and are always available to assist families in any way we can, ensuring we build strong, respectful relationships that enhance children’s early education journey.

I look forward to welcoming you to Kindy Patch Mordialloc early education centre.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Mordialloc, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Children develop respect for the environment through gardening, recycling and nature-based learning. Educators also introduce the interconnected aspects of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic, through concepts like fairness, sharing and community.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Music and movement

Our exclusive Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Creative Arts

Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of creative experiences, including painting, drawing, drama, dance, storytelling, music and craft activities. These experiences encourage imagination, self-expression and confidence while supporting fine motor development.

Age-appropriate early learning

Nursery

In our nursery room, the focus is on creating a calm and nurturing environment where the youngest children feel safe, secure, and cared for. Educators build strong bonds through responsive caregiving, songs, gestures, and one-on-one interactions that support early communication. Sensory play is encouraged to spark curiosity and develop fine and gross motor skills, while daily routines are designed to mirror home life, giving babies a sense of comfort and consistency.

Toddler

Our toddler room is all about independence, social growth, and expressive language. Educators guide children as they learn important self-help skills like feeding, dressing, and toileting, while also supporting emotional regulation and peer relationships through play. Storytelling, music, and counting games lay the foundation for literacy and numeracy, and a safe, supportive environment allows toddlers to explore, take risks, and grow in confidence.

Educators support identity and belonging through cultural exploration and inclusive practices, while fine motor skills are strengthened through art, construction, and sensory play. Group projects encourage teamwork, communication, and collaboration, helping children develop essential social skills for their next stage of learning.

As our kindergarten children prepare for their transition to school, the focus shifts to building resilience, confidence, and leadership. Literacy, numeracy, and self-expression are woven into engaging activities, while classroom roles and routines encourage responsibility and independence. Educators also support conflict resolution and emotional resilience, helping children develop the social skills they need to thrive. Inclusive support for every child

We are committed to supporting every child through inclusive practices that recognise their unique strengths and needs. We develop Individual Learning Plans in partnership with families and allied health professionals to ensure personalised goals are met. Our rooms are designed to be flexible and sensory-friendly, with quiet spaces, visual supports, and adaptive materials. We also welcome therapists and specialists into the centre whenever needed to provide consistent, collaborative support.

For children learning English as an additional language, we create language-rich environments that embed communication into play, music, storytelling, and daily routines. The transition was a smooth and reassuring experience thanks to the incredible team of educators. They are warm, genuinely caring, and highly qualified — but beyond their credentials, it’s their kindness, patience, and true passion for what they do that really stand out. They supported us from the very beginning during this important transition period, always taking the time to listen, answer questions, and offer guidance. Their communication is excellent, and they make us feel involved and informed every step of the way. It’s clear they truly care not only about the children, but also about the families. Most importantly, our baby is so happy there. Every day is filled with smiles, laughter, and meaningful activities. It’s beautiful to see how much learning happens through play, creativity, and interaction with friends. The variety of activities they provide encourages development, curiosity, and confidence. Our little one comes home happy, engaged, and clearly thriving. We fully trust the team, and that peace of mind is priceless. Knowing our child is in such loving and capable hands means everything to us. We honestly couldn’t ask for more — we are beyond grateful to have found such a wonderful place.

She is professional, kind and supportive. The kinder teacher is highly educated, worldly and caring person who makes learning an interesting experience. My son has absolutely loved this centre for the past three years he has been attending there. We chose to keep him in Kindy Patch Mordialloc even when logistically he could have been closer to home. To staff, thank you for all your hard work you do on a daily basis! Wishing you the best of luck in the future.

It is such a great centre and I felt my kids were so well cared for. It is a small centre so your kids are given a lot of time and aren’t in a crowded and overstimulating environment. The staff have been there forever which is so hard to find in childcare centres. Staff went above and beyond to provide a high level of care to the kids and to assist families in anyway they could.

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Kindy Patch uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Kindy Patch is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
